Drawing data and access

Drawing information

DXF comparisons use drawing entities extracted from the submitted files. Vector PDF comparisons extract drawing information from each page. The available geometry and text depend on the source file and its export settings.

Drawing content or extracted drawing information is processed beyond the reviewer’s device. Confirm your organization’s data-handling requirements before submitting sensitive or controlled drawings.

Access to reviews

Reviews belong to an organization and may be associated with a customer, site, asset, or project. Access permissions determine which drawings and review discussions a person can see or act on.

Select the correct organization and folder when creating a comparison. Check the intended audience before sharing drawing information or granting access.

Discussion and accountability

Comments remain connected to the affected drawing change. Reviewers can resolve open issues and record sign-offs according to their access. The append-only activity trail supports tracing review actions and decisions.

AI-assisted interpretation

AI analysis can suggest why a detected change matters. Check its interpretation against the geometry, dimensions, notes, and design intent. Treat the source drawings and the responsible engineer’s assessment as the basis for the review decision.

Controlled drawings

Confirm who may access the drawing pair, how long review data is retained, and whether AI-assisted analysis is permitted for that material. Follow the applicable drawing-control process before submitting or sharing files.

See the engineering review checklist for the technical checks that precede sign-off.
