Engineering review checklist
Drawing identity
- Confirm the part or assembly number, drawing number, and revision sequence.
- Check the title block, sheet identity, units, scale, and orientation.
- Confirm that both drawings represent the intended baseline and revised design.
Dimensions and tolerances
- Check changed nominal dimensions and their associated tolerances.
- Inspect hole diameters, hole locations, spacing, and mating dimensions.
- Consider fit, clearance, interchangeability, and the effect on connected parts.
- Verify that changed dimensions remain consistent with the surrounding geometry and notes.
Geometry and features
Inspect additions, removals, and modifications in context. Review moved holes, changed profiles, slots, and interfaces where those features are represented in the drawing. Investigate changes that may affect assembly alignment, tooling, or inspection.
Notes and callouts
Read changed notes and callouts against the source drawing. Review material, finish, manufacturing, and inspection requirements where present. Do not infer a requirement solely from a visual highlight or an AI-generated explanation.
Sheet and zone checks
Confirm the sheet and zone for every issue discussed. Check adjacent views and associated details so that a local edit is not interpreted without its drawing context.
Close the review
- Connect unresolved questions to the affected change.
- Record the engineering rationale for accepting or rejecting the revision.
- Resolve outstanding issues with the responsible reviewers.
- Confirm that the review still refers to the intended source revisions.
- Record sign-off only after engineering intent has been verified.
